Stillness

Follows Identity and Setbacks.

Mood Music: Black Lab - Lonely Boy

Stillness

When Eiri awoke that morning, it was still dark.

The sun had risen, he knew -- the clock on his nightstand proclaimed it to be nearly noon -- but its light was hidden behind a veil of clouds and rain. Oh well. He didn't anticipate leaving his apartment at any point in the near future. His arm was trapped under a certain pink-haired singer, cuddled against him and snoring softly against his neck. There was a leg tangled between his own, and an arm wrapped securely around his chest. It was strange, the things you became accustomed to. He was more aware these days of Shuichi's absence, rather than his presence. The quiet and the cold were disconcerting.

So instead of yanking his arm free and reaching for his cigarettes, Eiri lay there, staring at the ceiling, wondering if there was any blood whatsoever left in his fingers.

"Yuki? You awake?"

"Yeah."

"...want me to move?" Shuichi squirmed against him, stretching and pressing closer.

Eiri let his head roll to the side, so he could glance down and see more than a blur of pink hair. The covers had shifted lower on Shuichi's hip. "Why?"

"So you can get up."

"I don't want to get up."

"But--"

"--I said I don't want to get up. Can't I just lie here in peace?" Eiri snapped, unreasonably cranky.

Shuichi, to his credit, did not snap back... he merely reclaimed his limbs and climbed out of bed, grabbing his pajama pants from the floor as he left the room. Eiri stared at the ceiling until the singer returned, holding a glass of water and two pill bottles. "You're not missing any more of these. Come on."

...right. Eiri sat up and took the glass, holding out his other hand for the pills. Shuichi dropped the proper doses into his hand and Eiri grimaced, swallowed, let himself fall back onto his pillow. He hated being taken care of.

"We're recording one of your songs today." Shuichi was climbing over him to get back into the bed.

"Air mix?"

"Mm! I wanted them to be concert only but K said we could use the publicity."

"He's right... your tour is sold out, there's no point in doing concert-only songs, no one else can get tickets. Do unrecorded songs on the tail end and add extra venues." He didn't used to know this much about politics in business. But between his own marketing and Bad Luck's psychotic manager, he'd managed to pick up a decent amount.

"...Yuki? Are you coming?"

"Coming where?"

"My tour."

"Do you seriously think I could handle your songs every day for six months?"

"You don't have to come to all of the----"

"I've got a book signings."

"...where?"

"Aomori. Niigata. Yokohama. Osaka---------ACK Shuichi!"

"Yukiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii~~~"

"Get the hell off me!"

"Yuki Yuki Yuuuuuukiiiiii~" Shuichi clung to Eiri's neck, laughter stirring the hair around his ear. "You did that on purpose!"

"You're such an idiot, let go."

"I don't wanna!"

"Damn brat!"

"You love me, Yukiiiiii!"

"I'll cancel my flights!"

"No you won't~"

"Oh for--" Eiri stopped struggling, focusing instead on breathing with Shuichi's full weight on his chest. "You've gotten too heavy for this."

"That's not what you said last night," Shuichi breathed into his ear, before rolling obligingly to the side. Eiri shuddered and brought a hand up to rub at the side of his head... someday he wouldn't be so ticklish there. "Are you hungry yet, Yuki? I'll make you---"

"It's too early to put out fires."

"I was going to say rice. I can use the rice cooker, you know."

"Yeah, yeah. Go make yourself useful."

Shuichi kissed his cheek and bounced off the bed, out of the room. Where he got the energy from, Eiri would never know.

He was just finding lately that he didn't really mind.

d'awwwwww ♥

Somehow, I feel... That you're writing them with Shu-chan considering you have both of the voices down so well. It's kind of surprising in a good way.

...I'm not, actually. I asked her opinion on this one for the 'that's not what you said last night' line, but that's all.

I know, I know. It's just that good.

[identity profile] anatari.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I credit people!

...do you read [livejournal.com profile] sandboxes? We co-write there a lot.

[identity profile] upper-flowers.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm, sometimes! When I have time mostly.

[identity profile] anatari.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It's crackalicious. These are canon-based, so.

[identity profile] upper-flowers.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
...That word.

I mean. I'll check them out later.

[identity profile] write-it-in.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I could have said crackalackin, but I actually have no idea what that's supposed to mean.

[identity profile] upper-flowers.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
That is used to describe food.

We should stop threading and chat rly.

[identity profile] write-it-in.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh, it's not like anyone's reading these fics.

I'm supposed to be putting clothing on so I can go take my mom Christmas shopping. I have absolutely no motivation to do so.

[identity profile] upper-flowers.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Who knows. We are a comm of lurkers sometimes.

...Huh. Well, the sooner you go, the sooner you can complain of cold and boredom and be back? We can has an intro tonight, you know. At least, I think so. I stopped worrying about it yesterday.

[identity profile] write-it-in.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmmmmm, Christmas shopping with my mother is less, 'tagging along and driving her places' and more, 'she gives me a list of people and what they're like and I pick out their gifts.' It's long and tedious and exhausting.

...are we introing tonight? I thought we were introing last night.

[identity profile] touchurkeys.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay. So really. You should tell her you're going to pick them out tonight and then get them tomorrow. "He gets a candle. She gets a sweater. He gets porn. ...I mean."

We were supposed to but Tohma's internet is made of fail. So, we're shooting for tonight. What's going to happen is we're all going to be keysmashing over K and then go "Oh, hi, Tohma! --AAAAAAH NO DON'T SHOOT ME IN THE BAL-- ow". Or something such.
