IC; repairs

[There's a novelist sitting outside, leaning on a cabin wall out of the sun and smoking. The roof of the cabin is caved in, as if something landed on it... or it landed on itself, upside down. There are some building materials in a pile off to the side.

He appears to be waiting for something.]

That's why you take it from other cabins nobody is using.

[identity profile] write-it-in.livejournal.com 2010-06-22 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
There are barns all over, too. But I wanted better wood, I bet I could kick those walls in. What do we do?

[identity profile] trump-apple.livejournal.com 2010-06-22 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Well first we have to make sure the framing is stable. If it was damaged, then the roof will fall in as soon as you put it on.

[identity profile] write-it-in.livejournal.com 2010-06-22 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay.

...what does that mean. I'm a writer.

[identity profile] trump-apple.livejournal.com 2010-06-22 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
If a book has a few pages ripped out, you can put them back in easily. But if a book has a damaged spine, you have to replace the spine before you can put the pages back in.

[METAPHORS, I HAS THEM.]

[identity profile] write-it-in.livejournal.com 2010-06-22 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I meant explain it because I'm a writer and not a construction worker, moron. Not "turn it into a dumb metaphor about books."

[identity profile] trump-apple.livejournal.com 2010-06-22 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh.

[He crouches down, and draws the outline of a house and the framing. Then he points at the framing.]

We just have to check and make sure these parts here are straight up and down and aren't cracked or anything. Luckily it should be easy to see, since the roof isn't on there right now.

[identity profile] write-it-in.livejournal.com 2010-06-22 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay. Want me to start tearing what's left of the roof off?

[identity profile] trump-apple.livejournal.com 2010-06-22 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, let's do that first. There's not much left, so it shouldn't take long. Oh, but don't lean on the walls while doing it, they might fall over.

[identity profile] write-it-in.livejournal.com 2010-06-22 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
If I don't lean on the walls how the fuck am I going to get on the roof?

[identity profile] trump-apple.livejournal.com 2010-06-22 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
...Oh yeah, that's a problem.

[Normally he would use his powers to do this part but lol :B]

Well, how much of the roof is collapsed?

[identity profile] write-it-in.livejournal.com 2010-06-22 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Just the real top. I think there are enough beams to stand on.

We'll find out.

[identity profile] trump-apple.livejournal.com 2010-06-23 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! Well if the beams are still okay, then that makes it easier. Let's keep the ones that aren't broken, and just replace the ones that are. And we can climb up on there where the beams are.

[identity profile] write-it-in.livejournal.com 2010-06-23 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Or... not.

[if you follow his gaze back to the cabin....... the roof has been torn the rest of the way off. there are bits strewn around.]

[identity profile] trump-apple.livejournal.com 2010-06-23 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
[HAHA O WHUT]

Oh dear. This might be more difficult.

[identity profile] trump-apple.livejournal.com 2010-06-23 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
If it's just the beams, then we'll have to be careful walking up there. It's easy to fall.

[identity profile] write-it-in.livejournal.com 2010-06-23 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
I think it's just me you'll have to worry about. I'll go slow.

[identity profile] trump-apple.livejournal.com 2010-06-23 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Just don't fall, I can't catch you right now. Now, do you have a measuring tape?

[identity profile] write-it-in.livejournal.com 2010-06-23 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
To--- Speed can. Don't worry.

[goes and gets the tape, tossing it to you]

[identity profile] trump-apple.livejournal.com 2010-06-23 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
[Takes the tape and scrambles up on to the roof.]

Write down the numbers I tell you, okay?

[identity profile] trump-apple.livejournal.com 2010-06-23 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
[He measures a few things and calls out the measurements: length of the beams, the spacing between the beams, etc. When he's done he hops down and goes over to the pile of woodstuffs.]

Okay, now we just have to make sure these are the right size, and we can put them up there. Did you get a saw?

[identity profile] write-it-in.livejournal.com 2010-06-23 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
[he has two hacksaws]

Power tools are apparently scarce.

[identity profile] trump-apple.livejournal.com 2010-06-23 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
It seems so. But this should work.

[Now there's the task of actually cutting it :|a Satoshi's trying but lol how do I cut wood?]
